The Police Explorers Program is a volunteer program sponsored by the Miami-Dade Schools Police Department and governed by the rules of the Learning for Life Organization. The program is designed to provide high school students with the opportunity to learn about a career in law enforcement. Following an extensive training program, police explorers gain insight into police work through first-hand experience, assisting police professionals in a variety of departmental and community activities. Police explorers are non-sworn, unarmed civilian volunteers with no arrest or enforcement powers.

Our goal is to provide the youth of Miami-Dade County with an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the Miami-Dade Schools Police Department and to gain hands-on experience in police work. Meetings are held weekly, in addition to participation in school events and study trips.

Our criminal justice instructor and school resource officer work together to stimulate an interest in a career in law enforcement, develop strong character and positive physical habits, and to promote good citizenship and stimulate community service for our students.
