The Criminal Justice Magnet Program has been developed in response to the growing interest of students in career areas such as law enforcement and forensic science. Through this magnet students are exposed to criminal justice programs such as the Teen Court and Police Explorer Programs with Miami-Dade County.
Students in the Criminal Justice Magnet program begin with a course in Criminal Justice Operations which is the basis for certification as a 911 Public Safety Telecommunicator. The program follows a state mandated curriculum covering content relating to fire, medical, and police dispatch. Students learn about call classification and prioritization, roles and duties, operational skills, interpersonal and communication skills, professional ethics, and Homeland Security.
